Trainee Counselling Tuition & Mentoring
Are you currently training as a counsellor and feeling overwhelmed or under-supported?
Many counselling students find themselves struggling to fully grasp person-centred theory, make sense of academic assignments, or integrate their learning into practice. While training providers and group supervision offer some support, the reality is that many students feel they are left to navigate the complexities of training alone.
I offer one-to-one tuition and mentoring tailored specifically to the needs of counselling trainees—whether you’re just beginning your journey or preparing for final assessments and placement work.
What I Offer
Individualised tutoring in Person-Centred Theory and Practice
Clarify core concepts such as the actualising tendency, conditions of worth, congruence, empathy, and unconditional positive regard—and understand how to apply them in real therapeutic work.
Assignment Support
Guidance in understanding assignment briefs, structuring essays, and developing critical reflection—without doing the work for you.
Integration of Theory and Practice
Help in bridging the gap between academic learning and your development as a practitioner, especially in understanding how theory lives in the room with clients.
Support with Personal and Professional Development (PPD)
Explore your emerging identity as a counsellor, your values, and the personal process that underpins your growth.
Ethical Thinking and Case Discussion
Navigate common ethical dilemmas and deepen your understanding of how BACP’s Ethical Framework applies to your work.
Who Is It For?
Person-centred trainees at any stage of their diploma or degree programme
Students feeling lost in theory or unsure how to approach assignments
Trainees looking for thoughtful, experienced mentoring outside of formal supervision
Those seeking space to reflect on personal development and the meaning of becoming a therapist
Why Work With Me?
As a qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor, supervisor, and associate tutor, I bring both depth and warmth to this mentoring work. My approach is collaborative and non-directive where appropriate, yet I offer clear guidance and explanation when needed. Many students have told me they finally "got it" after one or two conversations where we unpacked what had previously felt abstract or confusing.
Whether you're stuck on Rogers’ six necessary and sufficient conditions, struggling to write about relational depth, or simply want a steady companion on the rocky path of training, this space is for you.
I am an associate counselling tutor at Cornwall College with a Level 3 Award in Education and Training. I am passionate about counselling education and am commencing a Masters degree in September.
